Introducing the “How to make a Gameboy Game in 2021” series

In this series I’m going to show you how to make a Gameboy Game from scratch. Specifically, readers will learn how to make a basic “SHMUP” game similar to 1942. Firstly, Knowledge of the C programming language is a prerequisite (Basic tutorials on C will be provided. ) This series will feature the 2020 Gameboy Development Kit (The GBDK 2020). Any Code Editor can be used, however Visual Studio Code is my own personal preference.

The “How to make a Gameboy Game” series all started as a weekend project, inspired by a series of YouTube tutorials from GamingMonster. As a result, Larold’s Jubilant Junkyard was created. It’s purpose is to document my knowledge and journey into making Gameboy games. In the future, more game types will be added. In addition, the Sega Genesis may be explored.

As for my personal background, My name is actually NOT Larold… Larold is simply a nickname I’ve grown fond of over time. I went to college for Computer Science. My hobbies include starting various projects on my computer, watching anime, and cooking.

In conclusion, thanks for visiting my blog. If you need help, send me an email at [email protected]. I’ll do the best I can to assist you with my limited time availability. Additional Help on how to make a Gameboy game can be found online. Here are some helpful links below:
